hello,
i'm interested in building a patch that allows me to move the red launchpad rectangle in the ableton session view to whatever postion i like. out of the box, the launchpad allows me to access a grid of 64 by 64 clips, but i need to go beyond that. my patch would work like a kind of preset system, where i can activate any 8x8 clips anywhere in the session view instantaneously.
anybody any ideas where to start, or can sombody already say this will be impossible?

i can only point you to a direction:
the easier way would be to ask in cycling / ableton forums what function to call (from maxforlive) with what parameters to "move" the red box inside the live_set
the harder way:
there is no documentation about the control surfaces so you will either try it out until you find that function, or you will have to read it up

->in short:
you will have to decompile launchpad remote scripts, find that section of code about session_matrix and find that method that Live calls when you move the box.
Then its just a matter of finding the way to call that function.
If the parameters of that function are something you can make/get in max4live (like coordinates of the clip matrix), it should be rather easy to do it.
If the parameters are some objects being passed between functions, you will have to make changes to the remote script itself
i think mchenetz should be able to give you a hint too hopefully, as he has been diving deeper into this remote script thingy
