hardware controller suggestions

hey michael chenetz, great work on the site been directed over from createdigital music (my user name there is s ford)
one suggestion for the time being, so far the hardware solutions have been a little focussed on 8 by 8 grid controllers eg monome, launchpad, apc40 but a load of us have more conventional (ie dull!) controllers along the lines of akai mpd16/24/32 etc etc, trigger finger etc etc etc and would it be possible to request some stuff along those lines?  i'm sure there are some users out there who's max/msp skills have lead to them developing something already....
also, would it be possible to have some stuff about the korg nano series?  i reckon the nanokontrol is probably the most popular midi controller out there.
keep up the great work michael, a great site you have.

@S Ford

I will definitely create tutorials for other controllers. However, you can look at the Ohm64 as a base for other controllers. When it comes down to it, you can think of controller interfacing as being categorized in two different methodologies. The first method of interfacing is by using the Live API in order to perform all of the communications to the Controller. Currently the only devices that I know that utilize the Live API interfacing are the APC40 and Launchpad.

The second method is applied to all other controllers. This method requires that you setup some kind of manual communications. This can be OSC in the case of the Lemur and Monome and MIDI for pretty much everything else.

After you figure out how you are going to communicate, then it is just a matter of connecting the controls to the associated Live functions through the Live API.

I will probably create some tutorials on how to find out what i/o your hardware is sending/expecting.

If you have any specific questions, I would be glad to answer them.

Cheers for the reply Mike.

To be honest, I am a bit confused by the terms!

My suggestion wasn't meant to be a critique, but for a tech idiot like me I'd love to see some tutorials for something like the NanoKontrol as this is a piece of a kit which I imagine probably more users own than most other pieces of kit.

I don't really know how to use Max that well to program a patch for the aforementioned controller or something which I own eg Akai MPD16.

Keep up the great work with this site though,

Best wishes,

Shubs
