EQ MIDI Patch

I'm trying to build a patch that takes an input signal and then filters it a midi-controlled EQ.  I want to be able to hit a note on my midi controlle (a Keystation 49e), translate this note to a frequency, then filter out that frequency and its harmonics.  I'd like it to be polyphonic, but for the time being I would be happy if it worked in mono.  It's currently set up as a midi patch.  I've encountered a few problems so far:
1.  I've heard that audio input and midi can't be combined in a single patch.  I haven't been able to get it to recognize audio from Live.
2.  I don't know how to use set up the math to generate the harmonics of each note without having a hundred *2 messages. 
I'm still a beginning Max user, and I apologize if there's an easy answer to my questions that I just haven't noticed.
